Privacy Policy
Traffic Management NZ Ltd gathers various information about: employees; client organisations and individual information about clients of our training department. This information includes:
- Employee personal information which may include next of kin contact information; residential address; email and phone address; work history, training and induction records; some medical history records; drug and alcohol test results.
- Personal information about students from their registration documents and their progress in the TMNZ training courses.
- Information about client organisations from their application for an account and other correspondence.
Information
We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we gather.
Use of your information
We will never sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We will use information we collect from you for the primary purpose for which it is collected and for such other secondary purposes that are related to the primary purpose of collection. We generally use personal information to complete delivery of our Documents to you, help us manage and enhance our services and to communicate with you.
Email Newsletters and other notices
It is our policy to send emails throughout the purchasing process and other Newsletter emails you elect to receive. In addition, we may send out promotional material to you where we think that may be relevant to you. It is our policy to immediately remove any person from any mailing list upon the person’s request.
Access and removal of Information
You have the right to seek access to the personal information held about you and to advise us of any inaccuracy. There are some exceptions to this right set out in the Privacy Act 1993. If you make an access request, we will ask you to verify your identity and specify what information you require. We may charge a fee to cover the costs of meeting your request.
Updates to our information practices
We reserve the right to change this policy. By continuing your relationship with TaMNZ, you agree to be bound by the amended policy. You should check from time to time to see if the policy has changed.
CCTV
CCTV systems are used at TMNZ for the following reasons:
- to deter and investigate theft or damage to property
- it may detect and capture evidence of crime e.g. assault or theft
- it actively and openly promotes the security of our premises to our clients
CCTV or images may be used for investigations as follows:
- Dishonesty or theft
- Evidence of crime
- Customer interactions
- Not following company policies and procedures
- Health and Safety purposes e.g. investigating an incident, near miss, incident or harm
The Operations Manager is responsible for video security and CCTV systems. In particular they will:
- Oversee how it works
- Be the point of contact for any faults with the system
- Take responsibility for enquiries regarding the operation of the system and/or image requests
- Deal with any problems or issues and help with staff training. Senior managers will also be shown how the system operates so that they can respond to simple questions from their staff or customers.

Any formal written request by an individual to view footage related to them will be referred to the Operations Manager for consideration. Any such request will be limited by the ease of access to the footage and by the need to protect other people’s privacy. If a request to view the footage is unable to be granted without unreasonably breaching others’ privacy, a written description may be provided of what they are doing in the footage. Any such request will be responded to within 20 working days. The Operations Manager will allow access only of relevant CCTV footage to:
- Authorised staff at TMNZ
- TMNZ Legal Representatives
- Contractors on site specifically to work on the CCTV equipment at the request of the Operations Manager
- New Zealand Police or other public sector agencies when the use or disclosure is necessary to enable the Police to uphold the law. This includes enabling them to prevent, detect, investigate, prosecute and punish offences. The use or disclosure of our CCTV images may be necessary for court or tribunal proceedings
- Individuals who have formally requested information at the authorisation and direction of the Operations Manager and within 20 days of the request
- CCTV maintenance companies will be able to access the CCTV images for system maintenance purposes at the request of the Operations Manager.
